Female MLAs of the BJP are staging protests outside the Assembly over Cooch Behar and Chopra incidents. Agnimitra Paul leads the dharna. The mahila morcha boss is claiming that Trinamool is doing atrocities. The BJP has demanded immediate action.

It is noteworthy that in the Mathabhanga-2 Block of Cooch Behar district, a BJP minority leader was allegedly stripped and beaten by Trinamool supporters. Following this, in the Chopra area, Trinamool leader Tajmul alias JCB's video has surfaced in which he is beating a couple mercilessly with a stick. The woman, who was beaten, was also dragged by her hair. The video of the same has surfaced online.

BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari had already announced that the party will stage a protest against the Cooch Behar incident on Monday. For this, the female MLAs asked for permission. However, they started their dharna outside the assembly this morning when denied. Along with Agnimitra, Shikha Chatterjee, Chanda Bauri and Sunita Singh also stage a dharna. The BJP is saying that women are being attacked and a female CM is silent.

Agnimitra said, "Police registered the statement of the victim of the Cooch Behar incident only after the BJP delegation visited there". "After that incident, we saw a TMC leader publicly assaulting a woman in Chopra. We are protesting against this", she added.

Meanwhile, speaker Biman Banerjee has said that he had ordered the Marshall to take necessary actions. "No permission was given", he added.
